* I belong to Gurdaspur city. I did all my schooling and Pre-Engg in Gurdaspur. My mentors were my father (Hr Sec School Teacher), my Drawing Teacher Sh. Shri Niwas, my Mama ji (a Principal) and my mother who brought up her family with all social values. * In July 1969, I got my admission in GNEC and I felt myself as one of the luckiest to have been admitted to this great college. * The period of four years spent at GNEC is the best period of my life. * I was actively involved in the extracurricular activities of the college mainly being the :- - Secretary of Photography Club - Editor: Hindi section of College Magazine - Member of Recreation Club - Member of Cultural Club and - Member of Music Club (All photo attached). * After my graduation I got a good chance to serve my Alma mater for one year. * I got married in July 1980. * After graduation I serve my Alma mater for 1 year as a faculty. * In Dec-74, I was selected as a Trainee Marine Engineer in The Shipping Corporation at Bombay. My revered Professor Madam Hardarshan Buttar, who remained my god-sister, helped me with Rs 2,500/- to deposit my Security Bond. * My professional career in Shipping lasted for next 44 years till June 2018. * In Dec-80 I passed my exam for Chief Engineer rank. I served on 46 ships and sailed across the globe while being attached to Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai and Houston. * My involvement in Genco Alumni started in 2013. I was unanimously elected as Executive Member of Genco Alumni Association in Nov 2022. Next year I was appointed Vice President of Alumni Association. * In Nov 2023, I arranged the Golden Jubilee of our 73-batch. We collected good funds and completed 5 Projects and donated 35 Dell Computers Software Lab to CSE Deptt, created this Website and lot of uplifting done at Alumni Home to increase occupancy.
